Starburst

Bring your dinner, folding chairs, and blankets for an evening of fun and beautiful music in the fresh summertime air at Ellenberger Park! Join ISO Associate Conductor Jacob Joyce as he leads the ISO through Copland's Outdoor Overture, Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, music from the Barber of Seville, and more! Highlighted at the concert will be the recently created piece Starburst, written by the young composer Jessie Montgomery. Starburst was commissioned by the Sphinx Foundation to promote underrepresented communities in classical music and is filled with tricky rhythms and jazz-flavored harmonies.
