Improvisation
Classes for K-12 in all levels
Jessie Montgomery offers improvisation classes for students K-12 using a teaching style based on the Creative Ability Development Method (CAD).
This method was invented by Jessies's first violin teacher the gifted music pedagogue Alice Kanack. A student and disciple of Mr. Shinichi Suzuki, Ms. Kanack developed her own method of teaching students to draw out their own creative abilities through improvisation following a progressive course that ingrains listening, ensemble and theoretical skills.
While on faculty at Community MusicWorks from 2004-2009, Jessie worked closely with Ms. Kanack to bring the fundamentals of CAD to the curriculum and to inform her own group teaching practices.
